In 1989, Sounds Magazine asked Ian to travel to Paris to photograph Robert Smith.. He trekked all over Paris, carrying a roll of reflective card under his arm. His travails were not to be in vain as he captured an striking and unusual shot of The Cure frontman. Smith later commented that it was his “best photo shoot for a magazine ever’.
